Hearts Open With Light:
Relationships In Today’s World
Digital Tapestries, in collaboration with Asian Improv aRts Midwest, will hold a film showcase and panel discussion at the Gene Siskel Film Center on Sunday, May 19, at 11 am. Both the screening and panel discussion will explore how various identities and technological advancements influence all types of relationships (family, romantic, friendly, etc). It will explore the existence of various types of relationships through: the screening of three short films – “Aijo” , “Roots Grow Together”, and “Hearts Open With Light” – a panel discussion, and a response art activity.
The panelists will discuss issues involving identity, mental health and relationships facing Asian Americans and students in the Chicago. The panelists will also discuss how the current sociopolitical climate and administration’s policies affect them.
Upon conclusion of the event, participants will be able to:
- Consider response art as a method for investigating personal factors that relate to the development and maintenance of relationships.
- Consider the role of relationships in our lives and society.
- Understand how the current sociopolitical climate and administration’s policies affect their lives and personal outlook.
